Truss Hotel Times Square
I'll be honest - when I first walked into Truss Hotel Times Square, I wasn't expecting much.
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Truss Hotel Times Square, I wasn’t expecting much. The entrance on 9th Avenue is pretty understated, which honestly threw me off since most hotels around here are screaming for attention. But you know what? That turned out to be exactly what made this place work.
The location is actually brilliant if you think about it. You’re technically in Hudson Yards, so you get that slightly more upscale vibe without the absolute chaos of being right in the thick of Times Square madness. I mean, you can still walk to all the Broadway shows and tourist spots in about ten minutes, but when you come back at night, you’re not dealing with those massive crowds of people taking selfies right outside your hotel door. The 9th Avenue corridor has some really solid local spots too – there’s this little coffee place two blocks down that I stumbled across that beats any Starbucks, and the whole area feels more like where actual New York people might hang out.
What really surprised me about this four-star property was how they handled the details. The rooms aren’t huge (let’s be real, nothing in Manhattan is), but they’re smartly designed with these built-in charging stations and actually decent lighting – not those dim hotel lamps that make you feel like you’re living in a cave. The beds are solid, and the noise situation is way better than I expected for this area. I was worried about street noise since 9th Avenue gets busy, but their windows must be pretty well insulated because I actually slept through the night. The whole design has this modern industrial thing going on that could’ve felt cold, but somehow it works – lots of warm wood mixed with the metal accents, and the common areas have these comfortable spots where you can actually sit and plan your day without feeling like you’re in a sterile lobby.
Staff-wise, they seem to get that most people staying here are probably trying to balance seeing the tourist stuff with maybe experiencing some real New York flavor. The front desk folks gave me solid recommendations that weren’t just the obvious spots, and check-in was refreshingly quick. Parking is expensive (welcome to Manhattan), but there’s a garage situation nearby if you’re crazy enough to drive here. I’d probably skip bringing a car entirely and just use the subway – you’re pretty close to multiple lines, and getting around the city is way easier from here than from some of the more isolated hotel clusters. The whole experience felt like they’re aiming for that sweet spot where business travelers and leisure folks can both be comfortable without either group feeling out of place.
Hotels near me in New York offer convenient access to iconic landmarks, where guests can easily walk to Empire State Building, Central Park, and world-renowned restaurants in diverse neighborhoods.

I thank the hotel for the wonderful hospitality in midtown manhattan
Nearby main subway station and main must see locations
What could be improved: Nothing actually
Comfortable and safe.
Loved the cleanliness. The whole hotel smells amazing. Staff was welcoming.
What could be improved: The tv could have been more updated. Maybe one with apps like Netflix, Hulu, ect. More lighting. Room was too dark. Better signs to get to the rooftop deck. Maybe a rug for the floor.
Very Good
Cleaning crew was very pleasant. Cafe across the street was excellent for a quick bite and coffee
What could be improved: There wasn't continental breakfast or coffee, subway was a few blocks away. some light construction being done.
Ideal base for a long weekend
Staff at reception super helpful & friendly
Location superb
Beds really comfortable
Room basic but very clean
What could be improved: Nothing - a few more coat hangers would have been nice in the wardrobe but that’s a minor thing :)
Nice big clean room but that's all
Lovely big clean rooms, nice staff and good location. Great cleaners always fresh towels and toiletries
What could be improved: No kettle in the room??? It has a mini kitchen but no cutlery plates, cups etc. Pool room only open sometimes
Room description on booking.com was deceiving, but staff accommodated with no issues
Wonderful
Great location, big room, great value for money
What could be improved: Noise from outside and rooms but it is near time square so expected
Fantastic location and friendly staff.
The location was convenient. A short walk to Times Square and the convention center at Hudson Yards. Loads of places nearby for food. The staff were excellent, friendly and accessible. The person at check-in even took the initiative to move our groups’ rooms when she realised we were a group so that we would all be together/close by on the same floor.
The rooms are a good size and have a nice contemporary feel to them (especially the bathroom)
What could be improved: The pillows - They were a weird size - short and lumpy. The lighting in the rooms were a bit on the dim side (I must be getting old)
Very Good
Friendly. helpful staff.
What could be improved: Room showed some wear (e.g., damage to BA door)
Would definitely return.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a king room, which was very spacious and had all the amenities we needed. Great location, a 10 minute walk from Time Square, but still very quiet outside.
What could be improved: Although our room and the rest of the hotel was very clean and neat, the ladies restroom on the ground floor was very dirty and in serious need of some cleaning tlc.
Wonderful
What could be improved: No tea or coffee facilities.
