The St. Regis New York
First Impressions Walking into The St.
First Impressions
Walking into The St. Regis New York feels like stepping back into the golden age of Manhattan hospitality — but with all the modern touches you actually want. This five-star landmark on Fifth Avenue has been hosting guests since 1904, and honestly, they’ve perfected the art of making you feel important without being stuffy about it. The lobby’s crystal chandeliers and marble columns are impressive, sure, but what struck me most was how the staff seemed to anticipate what you needed before you even asked.
Prime Manhattan Location
You really can’t beat this spot in New York — I mean, you’re literally across from the Museum of Modern Art and just steps from Central Park. Fifth Avenue shopping is right outside your door, and the subway connections at 57th Street make getting anywhere in the city pretty effortless. What I love about Midtown East is that it feels sophisticated without the tourist chaos you get in Times Square, and couples seem to really appreciate that refined atmosphere for romantic getaways.
The Room Experience
The rooms here strike that perfect balance between classic elegance and modern luxury. Each room comes with those signature St. Regis butler services — which sounds over the top until you realize how nice it is to have someone who can actually get you dinner reservations at that impossible-to-book place. The marble bathrooms are genuinely stunning, and the Egyptian cotton linens make it hard to get out of bed in the morning. The views vary, but even the city-facing rooms give you that quintessential Manhattan skyline experience.
Dining and Amenities
The King Cole Bar downstairs is where the Bloody Mary was invented — not just hotel marketing fluff, but actual history. Their restaurant, Astor Court, serves afternoon tea that feels appropriately fancy without being intimidating, and the seasonal menu actually changes based on what’s good rather than just what’s trendy. The fitness center is well-equipped (though not huge), and while there’s no full spa on-site, they do offer in-room treatments that let you stay in your luxury bubble.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail that comes from decades of hospitality experience. The staff remembers your preferences, the concierge actually knows the city inside and out, and there’s a sense of timeless sophistication that newer luxury hotels sometimes try too hard to achieve. Yes, you’re paying premium prices, but for special occasions or when you want to feel like you’re living in the best version of New York, it’s worth every penny. The fact that couples rate it so highly tells you something — this is the kind of place that makes ordinary moments feel memorable.

Perfecto
Everything
What could be improved: Nothing
Good
Location was good and the staff were very willing to help
What could be improved: Breakfast was honestly not very good. Hot food had to come for another part of the hotel (which we didn't want to wait for) and what we did get was expensive
Exceptional
Location is perfec
What could be improved: Over all love very much
Fantastic, luxurious girls’ weekend
Beautiful accommodations and wonderful location- near top-notch shopping and restaurants and top notch service!
It was fabulous
Your doormen are delightful! And our Butler, Julia was lovely
Overall slightly disappointing. We would not have visited if we was told about the construction work in the hotel.
The location and the room
What could be improved: The reception was being refurbed which we was not told about. This made checking in slightly difficult. The room had some items loose or “scuffed” although very minor we didn’t expect these from such a prestigious hotel.
It was a beautiful location with the amenities that were fair. For an upgrade, I wanted more.
I enjoyed the butler service it was great. The staff very nice and the feeling of warmth.
What could be improved: I didn’t like that I was told my room was an upgrade but we had to get a separate bed that wasn’t delivered on time. I had to walk to the front desk to ask for it to be delivered to my room. Considering the amount of money spent on the room, I would have expected this to be take care of prior. I’m was on a time crunch and we were exhausted so we had to take the time out of our day to get the bed delivered.
Worth the price and the lack outlets was not a real problem.
The room was spacious and very much like home. An old world charm and antiques everywhere.
What could be improved: They need more electrical outlets!! it is an old hotel built before the advent of mobile devices and all sorts of electrical needs.
It was a pleasant stay however my room was not in a good location, I hardly had any daylight
Staff was friendly and accommodating
What could be improved: My room
Luxury service overall!
Everything was really smooth. The room had a personal butler service, the staff was friendly and responsive to requests. The hotel is situated in a good location and is accessible. It was indeed a luxury service overall.
What could be improved: Due to the high demand at the hotel for an international event, the rates were way too expensive, especially for a late check-out policy. We were charged a full night rate for a 1-2hour extension after 1pm. Which definitely sucked.
