The Prince Kitano New York
I'll be honest, when I first walked up to The Prince Kitano New York on Park Avenue, I wasn't sure what to expect.
I’ll be honest, when I first walked up to The Prince Kitano New York on Park Avenue, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The entrance is actually pretty understated – you might even walk past it if you’re not paying attention. But that’s sort of the charm of this place, you know? It’s tucked into Murray Hill in this quiet way that makes you feel like you’ve discovered something the crowds haven’t figured out yet.
Once you step inside, though – wow. The lobby has this distinctly Japanese aesthetic that’s immediately calming after the chaos of New York streets. I mean, the whole hotel is owned by a Japanese company, and they’ve really committed to that refined, minimalist vibe throughout. The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid four-star property, but with these thoughtful touches that surprised me. The bathrooms are especially nice – deep soaking tubs that actually fit a full-grown human, which honestly shouldn’t be remarkable but somehow is in Manhattan. The beds are firm in that good way, and the blackout curtains actually work (trust me, I’m picky about this stuff).
What really won me over was the location, though. You’re right in Murray Hill, which puts you walking distance from Grand Central – maybe ten minutes if you’re moving at a decent pace. That’s incredibly handy for airport connections or day trips, but more importantly, you’re close to all the good stuff without being right in the tourist madness. There’s a fantastic Indian restaurant called Curry Hill just a few blocks south, and you can easily walk to the Empire State Building or Bryant Park when the mood strikes. The hotel’s restaurant, Hakubai, serves some genuinely excellent Japanese food too – I had the kaiseki dinner one night and it was one of those meals that makes you slow down and actually pay attention. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after business hours, which means you’ll actually sleep well, but you’re still close enough to Midtown that you won’t feel cut off from everything. Parking is typical Manhattan expensive if you’re driving, but honestly, you probably shouldn’t be driving here anyway. The staff has this understated professionalism that feels very Japanese – they’re helpful without being overly chatty, which I appreciated after dealing with some of the more… enthusiastic hotel experiences around the city.
Exploring New York offers visitors an unforgettable journey through America’s most iconic city, from its towering skyscrapers to its diverse neighborhoods and world-renowned connections to global culture and commerce.

I definitely recommend staying at this hotel - many attractions are within walking distance
very good location, helpful staff, very clean rooms
What could be improved: the room was booked for 4 people, but there were only 2 bottles of water and 2 sets of towels (after a reminder, the towels were replenished)
Exceptional
We recently stayed at the Prince Kitano Hotel for two nights and had a very good experience. The hotel is elegantly designed with a refined, quiet atmosphere that offers a calm retreat from the hustle of Midtown Manhattan. Our room was clean, spacious, and thoughtfully arranged, with a beautiful view and quality amenities. The Japanese-inspired decor and hospitality were noticeable and added a unique charm to our stay.
The location is also excellent—close to Grand Central Station, yet tucked away on a quieter street, making it convenient but peaceful. Staff were courteous, professional, and attentive to any requests. Everything from check-in to check-out was smooth and well-managed.
Overall, we had a very pleasant stay and would recommend the Prince Kitano to anyone looking for a high-quality, serene experience in the heart of New York City.
Will stay here again the next time I’m in NYC
Beautiful hotel. Our room was small, but very clean and comfortable with high-end bedding. Friendly and professional staff. The bellman, Bryan, is a delightful young man.
What could be improved: Nothing
Overall great!
Very clean and tidy ! Great service
What could be improved: Some plug point bit loose
Book it!
Location was 5 minute walk from Grand Central. Super convenient to visit everything and still very quiet. The rooftop bar was super friendly and a nice way to spend the end of the day. I appreciated all the little touches in the room.
What could be improved: The reception staff are efficient but not very welcoming.
We had a wonderful overnight stay at the beautiful Prince Kitano Hotel in NYC.
The Prince Kitano is a beautiful hotel in an excellent location. The staff is very professional and attentive to the clients. The rooftop bar and restaurant offers great views of the Empire State Building.
What could be improved: N/A
The Japanese style makes us want to stay here when we come back to NYC.
The Japanese style furnishings were aesthetically pleasing. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a view of Park Abe and it was lovely.
Great location, slightly dated furnishing
Great location, very clean, relatively big rooms for NYC
What could be improved: A little outdated; shower pressure and temperature weren’t great; beds were small and old
Consider one of the tatami, Japanese-style suites-- you won't regret it!
Almost impossible to describe how great the tatami suite was-- like a small piece of Japan in Manhattan. Beautifully done but also extremely comfortable.
