The Park Ave North
I'll be honest – when I first walked up to The Park Ave North on 129th Street, I wasn't entirely sure what to expect from this corner of East Harlem.
I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to The Park Ave North on 129th Street, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect from this corner of East Harlem. But you know what? This three-star spot completely won me over with its unpretentious charm and surprisingly solid basics. The neighborhood has this authentic energy that’s hard to find in more touristy parts of New York – there’s a Caribbean restaurant right around the corner that locals actually eat at, and the morning sounds are more about people heading to work than tour groups planning their day.
The hotel itself feels refreshingly straightforward. I mean, don’t expect marble lobbies or fancy concierge desks, but the rooms are clean and bigger than you’d guess from the outside. The beds are actually comfortable (which honestly surprised me given the price point), and the windows are decent at keeping out street noise – though if you’re a super light sleeper, maybe pack earplugs just in case. What really struck me was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about the place. The woman at the front desk remembered my name after one conversation, and when I mentioned I was looking for good coffee, she didn’t just point me toward some chain but told me about this little spot two blocks over where they roast their own beans. That kind of local knowledge is worth its weight in gold when you’re trying to experience a city like a real person instead of a tourist.
Getting around from here is way easier than you might think – the 6 train at 125th Street is just a quick walk, and honestly, being up in East Harlem gives you this totally different perspective on Manhattan. You’re close enough to hit the main attractions (Central Park’s northern end is practically next door), but far enough away that you can actually afford to eat dinner without taking out a second mortgage. The area gets quiet at night in a way that Midtown never does, which I found surprisingly peaceful after long days of walking around the city. Look, this isn’t the kind of place where you’ll Instagram your bathroom or brag about thread counts, but if you want a clean, comfortable base in an authentic neighborhood with genuinely helpful people – and you don’t want to blow your entire budget on accommodation – The Park Ave North delivers exactly what it promises, no more and no less.

What could be improved: The location is not so good, but it was not a big problem to us.
Will definitely stay again

What could be improved: A bit on the small side can hear everything through walls but didn’t take away from experience

What could be improved: area
I would recommend this place for people who want the best value for money in NYC and for those who aren’t afraid sleepin
Good value for money of course, the lady at the reception was kind, if you need fresh towel there is no problem, there is everything what you need to sleep well, comfortable bed, a lot of electrical outlets… dryer… you can leave your luggage … etc
What could be improved: You can hear everything and everybody can hear you; shower gel pad - it’s a bit gross; I mean neighborhood wasn’t most familiar - but you know where you’re coming
Good place
Good location. Clean and kind staff.
What could be improved: Too late check in (3pm) and too early check out (11am).
Nice little place
Really helpful staff. Very clean.
What could be improved: Partly blocked bath plughole and shaky shower fittings.
Good place
Very nice hotel and clean. In the room there were a mini fridge, an owen and a coffe machine with coffe and tea. They also provided bath products.
It's on Harlem, 129 th street, easy to arrive with Subway.
What could be improved: All good, but to say someting: Some days we didn't have coffee refill and because the front desk doesn't open till 10.00h we couldn't ask for it.
