You know what caught me off guard about The Cloud One New York-Downtown, by the Motel One Group? Walking up to this sleek glass tower on Greenwich Street, I honestly expected another cookie-cutter business hotel – but this four-star place actually has some personality to it. The lobby hits you with this modern, almost Scandinavian vibe that feels way more thoughtful than most chain hotels manage to pull off.
The location is pretty smart, actually – you’re right in the heart of the Financial District, which I know sounds all corporate and sterile, but hear me out. Stone Street’s cobblestone restaurants are literally around the corner (perfect for that after-work drink scene), and you can walk to the 9/11 Memorial in about five minutes when you want something more meaningful. What I really appreciated was being able to grab the R train at Rector Street without dealing with the chaos of Times Square tourists – sometimes the less flashy subway stops are actually the winners. The rooms themselves are compact but cleverly designed, sort of like what you’d expect from a European hotel where every square foot counts. The beds are surprisingly comfortable, and honestly, the blackout curtains are a godsend when you’re trying to sleep off jet lag in a city that never actually gets quiet.
Here’s the thing about staying in New York – location trumps luxury every single time, and this place gets that balance right. You’re close enough to walk to South Street Seaport when you want waterfront views, but you’re also positioned perfectly for hopping on the ferry to see the Statue of Liberty without the midtown madness. The staff actually knows the neighborhood too, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many hotel clerks just hand you a generic tourist map. I mean, they pointed me toward some solid coffee spots on Nassau Street that weren’t the usual Starbucks suspects. The only minor thing – and this is pretty typical for downtown – weekday mornings can get a bit hectic in the lobby with all the business travelers, but honestly, that energy kind of grows on you after a day or two. It feels like you’re plugged into the real rhythm of the city instead of hiding away in some tourist bubble uptown.
Hotels in New York offer visitors the opportunity to stay in the heart of the Big Apple, with easy access to Wall Street, vibrant nightlife, and renowned attractions like Statue of Liberty.

Location and beds
What could be improved: Didn’t enjoy it. The 4th floor only had a view of a metal grate. For my daughter’s birthday, I was hoping for an open city view — something unforgettable to remember New York by.
It was just excellent
We really recommend this hotel! Nice rooms, nice coffee, nice staff. We just fell in love with this place! Especially people who work there are really helpful, friendly and nice! We even could leave our luggage after checking out
