The Bernic Hotel New York City,Tapestry Collection by Hilton
I'll be honest – when I first walked into The Bernic Hotel New York City, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, I wasn't expecting much from another midtown property.
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into The Bernic Hotel New York City, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, I wasn’t expecting much from another midtown property. But this four-star gem on East 47th Street actually surprised me in the best way possible. The lobby has this understated elegance that doesn’t try too hard, you know? Dark wood, comfortable seating areas where you can actually work on your laptop without feeling like you’re camping out, and the staff genuinely seems to remember your name after the first day.
What really sold me on this place is how it sits perfectly in that sweet spot between the corporate chaos of Times Square and the more residential Upper East Side. You’re literally a three-minute walk to Grand Central – and I mean actually three minutes, not that inflated hotel marketing math. The Chrysler Building is right there glaring down at you in the most photogenic way, and honestly, the views from the higher floors are something you’d pay extra for elsewhere. I stayed during a particularly busy week in October, and while you can hear the city humming below, the windows do a decent job keeping the street noise manageable. The rooms themselves feel more spacious than typical New York standards, with those high ceilings that don’t make you feel like you’re sleeping in a shoebox.
Here’s what I really appreciated – the little details that show someone was thinking about actual travelers instead of just filling rooms. The shower pressure is fantastic (seriously, this matters more than people admit), there are enough outlets near the bed for all your devices, and the air conditioning actually works quietly. The neighborhood is perfect if you need to be around midtown for business but want to escape to somewhere that feels less touristy for dinner. There’s this great little Italian place called Secondo around the corner that locals actually go to, and you’re close enough to walk to Bryant Park when you need some green space without the Central Park crowds. Check-in was smooth even when I arrived early on a Sunday, and they stored my bags without any fuss. The fitness center is small but functional – nothing fancy, just the basics that actually work. I mean, it’s not going to replace your regular gym routine, but it’ll do for a few days. The only minor complaint I’d have is that the elevators can be a bit slow during peak times, but that’s pretty standard for older New York buildings that have been renovated.

Great hotel if you are looking for a good central location
Location - perfect in Manhattan
What could be improved: Too loud - unless you are on very high floor you can hear the street
Breakfasts was only 3 options - I believe only one included if paid breakfast like continental - other like pancake extra budget
Had a fabulous stay, the staff were great, nothing was too much trouble for them.
Not sure if breakfast was available, we ate out....loads of cafes on the doorstep
What could be improved: It was a pity the rooftop bar wasn't open, or just a more welcoming place to sit out, if they didn't want to staff it. It is a lovely outdoor seating area.
