The location on West 44th is pretty much perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without staying right on the insanity that is Times Square itself. I mean, you’re literally two blocks from all the Broadway theaters – I could hear the buzz of theater crowds heading to evening shows from my room window, which honestly added to the energy rather than being annoying. The Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood has really transformed over the years, and you’ve got some fantastic hole-in-the-wall restaurants just steps away that most tourists never find. There’s this little Colombian place around the corner that locals actually eat at, not just visitors.

What really got me was the attention to details that frequent travelers notice but hotels often miss. The elevators are fast – and I mean actually fast, not just “decent for a tall building” fast. The wifi works everywhere, even in the elevator (tested it, because I’m that person). The rooms have proper blackout curtains, which is crucial when you’re trying to sleep in a city that never dims its lights. I stayed in a standard room on the 15th floor and the street noise was surprisingly manageable, though I’d still request a room facing away from 44th if you’re a light sleeper. The bathroom setup is smart too – double sinks if you’re traveling with someone who takes forever to get ready, and the shower actually has decent water pressure, which you can’t take for granted in New York.

The staff here genuinely seems to know what they’re doing, especially at check-in. No fumbling around with the system or asking me to repeat my confirmation number three times. They had restaurant recommendations that weren’t just the usual tourist traps – someone actually pointed me toward a speakeasy in the basement of a building on 9th Avenue that I never would have found otherwise. The concierge desk is staffed by people who’ve clearly spent time exploring the neighborhood, not just reading from a script. During my stay, they helped me figure out the best subway route to avoid weekend construction delays, which saved me probably an hour of frustration.
