Hotel Stanford
You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Stanford?
You know what caught me off guard about Hotel Stanford? Walking into this three-star place on 32nd Street, I was expecting something pretty basic – but honestly, it punches way above its weight class. The lobby has this old-school New York charm that feels authentic, not like they hired some designer to fake “vintage vibes.” I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Midtown, just a few blocks south of the Empire State Building, and somehow they’ve managed to create this little pocket of calm.
The rooms are smaller than what you’d get in some sprawling suburban hotel chain – this is New York, after all – but they’re thoughtfully laid out. What I really appreciated was how quiet it stays, even though you’re surrounded by the city’s constant hum. The windows actually block out most of the street noise, which is no small feat when you’re this close to Herald Square and all that chaos. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood too, which makes a difference when you need restaurant recommendations that aren’t just the obvious tourist traps. They pointed me toward this little Korean spot on 31st that I never would’ve found otherwise.
Here’s the thing that really sold me on the place – the location is just ridiculously practical without feeling touristy. You can walk to Penn Station in about three minutes (perfect if you’re catching a train), Madison Square Garden is right there, and you’ve got multiple subway lines within easy reach. But you’re also close enough to walk to Bryant Park or even Times Square if that’s your thing, though honestly, most mornings I found myself heading toward the Koreatown area just south of the hotel for breakfast. The check-in was refreshingly straightforward too – no overselling of amenities or trying to upsell you on room upgrades. They just got me settled and pointed out where to find ice, which sounds minor but you’d be surprised how many places make that unnecessarily complicated. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere that actual New Yorkers might recommend to their visiting relatives, not just another hotel that exists purely for people passing through.
Hotels in New York offer visitors the opportunity to stay in the heart of the Big Apple, with easy access to Wall Street, vibrant nightlife, and renowned attractions like Statue of Liberty.

Very Er m comfortable boutique bottle in the heat of Koreatown…
Very comfortable beds, pillows and sheets! Very nice!!!
What could be improved: Slow, tiny elevator…
Good value, safe and convenient location for central Manhattan. Friendly and clean.
This hotel is in the heart of Manhattan and serves as a comfortable base for people who don't want to waste their holiday time in the hotel. The room was reasonable size, older but clean decoration, well staffed with a small-choice breakfast selection and 2 great coffee pod machines. It is a great position for walking to Times Sq., Grand central, Rockafeller complex. Wall Street, Hudson Yd, Brooklyn bridge are all 40 mins walk along major Avenues lined with shops and eateries. It was exactly what we hoped it would be. Koreatown felt welcoming and safe, the H-Mart opposite has great choice of groceries and hot eat-in/take-away meals.
Very good location, clean, comfortable
Location,location,location!
But also room was clean, nice bed, quite quiet if you are not at the street.
What could be improved: The fact that windows which were not to the street were towards another building at 1 m away, so almost no natural light.
Breakfast could be a bit more varied, apme eggs would help.
Good value in a convenient midtown location
Spacious room. Modern bedroom. Excellent location. Comfortable bed. Good HVAC. Pleasant on site bar.
What could be improved: Breakfast was okay. Refrigerator a plus, but no ice machine. Complimentary room bottled water would have been appreciated.
Great location and stay for NY
Excellent location! comfy and friendly staff all in all
What could be improved: Bit old rooms and decoration
Great location nice hotel
The room was nice, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was clean, toilet was not the best design. Overall was great!
What could be improved: One elevator for such a bit hotel, they need another one or at least larger one. There was no ramp for the suitcase to roll up the stairs, so I had to lift it. There was a doorman probably for that.
Very Good
Location
What could be improved: Break fast hall to be big
Wonderful
Location is close to Penn Station and very close to the subway. The room was perfect for what I needed. I especially loved the bed.
Very good hotel, wonderful location!
The location is perfect for visiting New York City, traveling out of town, and for business. You're practically in Herald Square, 2 minutes from Macys. The American-style breakfast is good, and there's coffee to go all day.
What could be improved: Breakfast doesn't vary from day to day, if you stay for a week it might get boring.
very welcoming and comfortable stay
Spacious room, bright breakfast area, very comfortable bed, friendly staff, felt safe
What could be improved: most nights it was noisy and did not have good sound insulation, the bath drain was blocked, the TV was not working in my room
