First Impressions
Walking into Hotel Indigo NYC Financial District, an IHG Hotel feels like discovering a well-kept secret in one of Manhattan’s most historic neighborhoods. The lobby has this boutique vibe that’s refreshingly different from the cookie-cutter chain hotels you’ll find elsewhere in the city. I mean, you’re literally steps away from Trinity Church and Wall Street — the location alone makes this three-star property punch way above its weight class.
Location & Neighborhood
Honestly, the location is what makes this place special. You’re right in the heart of New York’s Financial District, which means you can walk to the 9/11 Memorial, Stone Street’s cobblestone bars, and catch the Staten Island Ferry for those free Statue of Liberty views. What I love about staying down here is how different it feels from Midtown — during the week it’s buzzing with Wall Street energy, but weekends get surprisingly quiet and peaceful. The subway connections are actually pretty solid too, with multiple lines within a few blocks.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in had that modern Indigo aesthetic — you know, the locally-inspired artwork and bold colors that make each property feel unique to its neighborhood. The space wasn’t huge (this is Manhattan, after all), but it was smartly designed with good storage and a work area that actually functioned well. The windows looked out toward the historic buildings nearby, which beat staring at another hotel tower. The bed was comfortable enough, and the bathroom had a decent-sized shower — nothing fancy, but everything worked as it should.
Dining & Amenities
The hotel’s restaurant serves up American fare with a local twist, and while I didn’t have dinner there, the breakfast was solid — fresh ingredients and good coffee, which is really all you need before heading out to explore the city. There’s also a fitness center that’s compact but has the essentials if you want to squeeze in a workout. The staff was genuinely helpful with recommendations, and they seemed to actually know the neighborhood well rather than just reading from a script. Parking is available nearby for those arriving by car.
Why Guests Love It
Look, this isn’t going to be the fanciest hotel you’ll ever stay in, but it delivers exactly what you want from a well-located New York property. The 8.8 rating makes sense — it’s the kind of place that gets the fundamentals right without any unnecessary frills. Couples especially seem to love it here (and I can see why), probably because the Financial District has this romantic, old-world charm once the business crowd clears out. You’re paying for the location and the experience of staying in one of the city’s most historic areas, and honestly, that’s worth it.

We didn't have breakfast at the hotel. The location was excellent. There were multiple subway lines to get us to places we wanted to visit.
