Flatiron Hotel, Sonder by Marriott Bonvoy
I've stayed at Flatiron Hotel, Sonder by Marriott Bonvoy a handful of times now, and honestly, it's one of those places that just gets better each visit.
I’ve stayed at Flatiron Hotel, Sonder by Marriott Bonvoy a handful of times now, and honestly, it’s one of those places that just gets better each visit. Right on West 26th Street in NoMad – you know, that sweet spot between the actual Flatiron District and Midtown where you’re close to everything but not drowning in tourist chaos. The building itself has this understated elegance that I really appreciate; it’s not trying too hard to be boutique-y, but it’s definitely not your standard business hotel either.
What really struck me the first time was how they’ve managed to nail that balance between modern convenience and actual character. The rooms are smartly designed – I mean, this is New York after all, so space is at a premium – but they don’t feel cramped or sterile like some of those newer four-star places downtown. The tech integration is actually useful (not just gimmicky), and the beds are legitimately comfortable, which honestly surprised me given the price point. You’ll hear some street noise if you’re facing 26th, but that’s just city life, and it quiets down after midnight anyway.
The location is what keeps bringing me back though. You’re a quick walk to Madison Square Park, which is perfect for morning coffee runs or just escaping the concrete for a bit. The whole NoMad area has really come into its own – there are some fantastic restaurants within a few blocks that most tourists haven’t discovered yet, and you’re still close enough to hop on the subway at 28th Street when you need to get somewhere fast. I’ve noticed the front desk staff actually knows the neighborhood well, which makes a difference when you need restaurant recommendations that aren’t just the obvious choices. The only minor complaint I have is that the elevators can be a bit slow during peak check-in times, but that’s pretty typical for buildings of this age in the city. Overall, it’s become my go-to spot when I need to be in Manhattan – not flashy, just solid and well-located with a team that seems to actually care about the guest experience.

Such an amazing location for first time visit in NYC.
The location was great and lovely friendly staff. Great bars and cafes either side.
What could be improved: The property was quite noisy however they are aware of this and provide earplugs.
It was ok
I have stayed at Sonder many times this just felt like any hotel room
What could be improved: None of the amenities of Nash Battery Park and One Platt
Very Good
Perfect location in Manhattan! Great view on Broadway. Confortable bed and pillows. Spacious room.
What could be improved: The kitchen only had a fridge, a microwave and a kettle, so I wouldn’t call it a « kitchen » and therefore, it was overpriced (there’s a microwave available for all rooms on level 2, no need to pay extra to have it in the room). Not enough space for clothes (only a small hanger)
Great location and place for the price
Location
What could be improved: TV didn't work and there wasn't an iron in my room, took staff over thirty minutes to get an iron up
It’s clean and ok
The size of the room far exceeded normal NYC hotel room size. Big windows bring in Lots of light. However windows are dirty when looking out and they don’t open even slightly to get fresh air in. Also, poor lighting inside room at night. The hotel is kinda like a semi supervised Airbnb. Sometimes there’s someone at the front desk, sometimes not. No housekeeping which is also ok. Really convenient and nice flatiron neighborhood. Right up the street from a big park and Eataly.
Very Good
It’s great located; walking distant (if you like walking) to midtown and Chelsea. Otherwise, plenty of subway options to choose.
What could be improved: On weekends, it gets noisy as there are bars and clubs all around.
They don’t do the room during your stay.
Good option for no thrill stay at competitive price. You should expect some minor downsides.
Location, price, room
What could be improved: The street is very noisy and the windows do not insulate anything… difficult to sleep without earplugs. The staff is here to watch their screen. Zero service… i guess this is what you have for the price. But a simple courtesy would go a long way.
Very Good
Location, amenities, cleanliness
What could be improved: None
Perfect for midtown atmosphere and views.
Loved the view and location. Lovely big room.
What could be improved: Nothing.
Great location, design forward spaces, comfy bed, no food or amenities but a great stay.
The room was well designed and the building is in a great location in downtown Manhattan. There are high end touches and the pillows were very comfortable. Tight squeeze of a bathroom but great soap/shampoo/conditioner. Everything was code operated (front door, elevator, room) so made it easy getting in. Very friendly front desk staff and nice to have lockers in the building for storing luggage if you arrive before check in.
What could be improved: While ear plugs and a white noise machine were provided in room, it was exceptionally loud through all hours of the night. I was woken up multiple times by trash trucks with glass breaking and hydraulic noises.
