Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan/Chelsea
Look, I'll be honest – when I first walked into the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan/Chelsea, I wasn't expecting much from a three-star place in this part of town.
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked into the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott New York Manhattan/Chelsea, I wasn’t expecting much from a three-star place in this part of town. But you know what? This place actually gets it right in ways that matter when you’re dealing with the chaos of New York.
The location on 28th Street is sort of perfect if you think about it. You’re right in the sweet spot between the tourist madness of Midtown and the pretentious gallery scene further south in Chelsea – close enough to walk to both, but on a residential-ish block that actually quiets down at night. I mean, it’s still New York so you’ll hear some sirens, but nothing like staying near Times Square. The building itself has that clean, modern Marriott vibe without being too sterile, and honestly, the lobby feels bigger than it should given how cramped everything else is in Manhattan.
What really won me over was the attention to small stuff that road warriors actually care about. The elevators are fast (seriously, this matters when you’re running late), there are plenty of outlets by the bed, and the Wi-Fi doesn’t crap out every twenty minutes like some places I could mention. The rooms aren’t huge – I mean, we’re talking Manhattan real estate here – but they’re laid out smart with decent storage and a work area that’s actually usable. The bathroom’s compact but well-designed, with good water pressure and lighting that doesn’t make you look like a zombie. During my stay in March, I could hear some street noise during the day, but nothing that a white noise app couldn’t handle, and the heating worked great during that weird cold snap we had. The gym’s small but has the basics, and there’s a 24-hour market downstairs that’ll save you from those $8 bodega sandwiches when you’re too tired to venture out. Staff-wise, the front desk folks know their stuff about subway directions and restaurant recommendations – they pointed me toward this amazing dim sum place on Mott Street that I never would’ve found otherwise. Check-in was smooth even during what seemed like a busy corporate travel week, and they let me store bags before my room was ready without any attitude about it.
Hotel in New York booking should be done early, especially during holiday seasons when the city hosts internationally celebrated events and concerts at Madison Square Garden and other iconic venues.

Good value! Clean, convenient location and nice staff. A lot of noise though…
The location and the very nice staff.
What could be improved: The noise in the room (I had earplugs so it was not a major issue but I would have trouble to sleep otherwise and the breakfast room, which is small and thus comically packed after 8:00.
Very Good
Perfect location!
Great location
The location is great, the staff was friendly, the breakfast options were good, the room was clean and comfortable.
What could be improved: In two of the four nights I spend there some type of alarm went off, on the second night it was the fire alarm and everyone was exiting the building in panic. I know space is an issue in NY but it was difficult to find a table during breakfast
Fair experience:-)
Location
What could be improved: It’s noise at a certain moments of the night due to a roof top across the street
Amazing and comfortable
Location, staff, big room and big bed
What could be improved: Breakfast could be a bit more varied.
was great!
modern, clean, good location and very friendly staff - especially Megan - many thanks 🤗
Wonderful
Great location with a rooftop!
Lovely hotel, great location, nice staff and few extras that make it special
Location is great, very easy access to most major landmarks tourists will want to cover, as well as subway stations and bus stops close by. Staff was great, very friendly at reception. Few extras were certainly appreciated, such as the free waterbottles (as many as you need through your stay), all day availability of free coffee, tea and hot water, as well as some delicious cookies at tea time.
Breakfast buffet was nice with a great mix of items, but they could change it up a bit from day to day. We stayed 7 days and the only thing that typically changed was the type of sausage. The rooftop terrace is very nice when the weather is good. Microwave is available in lobby. The hotel is on the flower street so everyday the street was lined up with beautiful plants and flowers for sale.
What could be improved: Room did seem a bit cramped (room with two double beds) but probably to be expected given the prime manhattan location.
February 2025 stay
Hotel is clean, warm, daily room service and in a great location. 12 noon check out time was perfect for us. Would definitely recommend.
What could be improved: We booked a 2 double bed room as we were a party of 2 adults and 1 child. We found the room quite tight for space with limited clothes storage space.
Since several visitors showed up at the breakfast area in their pyjamas, management should consider a dress requirement for breakfast service. The hotels front could use some upkeep by repairing missing stone facade panels.
Very Good
It was a very nice place close to all the subways.
What could be improved: There was no fridge in the rooms. I am on medication due to my pregnancy and it requires to stay in the fridge. Thank God for my Stanley cup it can keep the ice for a day without trouble. I just wish there a fridge in the room.
