Da Vinci Hotel
The Da Vinci Hotel sits on West 56th Street in a spot that honestly took me by surprise – I mean, you're literally steps from Carnegie Hall and a quick walk to Central Park, but the street itself has this quieter, more residential feel than the chaos you'd expect in Midtown.
The Da Vinci Hotel sits on West 56th Street in a spot that honestly took me by surprise – I mean, you’re literally steps from Carnegie Hall and a quick walk to Central Park, but the street itself has this quieter, more residential feel than the chaos you’d expect in Midtown. When I first walked up, the building looked pretty unassuming from the outside, sort of blending into the classic New York streetscape, but that actually worked in its favor since you’re not dealing with tour groups constantly clustering around the entrance.
What really won me over about this three-star place was how the staff seemed to genuinely know the neighborhood – and I don’t mean they just handed me a generic tourist map. The front desk guy (I think his name was Marcus?) told me about this little coffee spot around the corner that locals hit up, and he was right about the 57th Street subway entrance being way less crowded than the Times Square stations. The rooms themselves are… well, they’re New York hotel rooms, you know what I mean? Not huge, but they made smart use of the space, and the bed was actually comfortable, which isn’t always a given. I stayed on the seventh floor and it was surprisingly quiet considering we’re talking about New York here – though I’d probably ask for a room facing away from the street if you’re a really light sleeper.
The thing that stuck with me most was how the place felt like it knew what it was. It’s not trying to be some fancy boutique hotel with a rooftop bar and marble everything, but it’s also not cutting corners where it matters. The lobby had this lived-in feeling that was kind of comforting after spending days walking around the city, and there’s something to be said for a place where you can grab your key and head upstairs without navigating through a scene. Plus – and this might sound small but it’s huge when you’re traveling – the elevators were actually fast and didn’t make you wait forever. For the price point and location, honestly, it delivers on what most people actually need from a New York hotel: clean, safe, well-located, and run by people who seem to care about doing their job well. You’re paying for the location here, obviously, but at least you’re getting genuine value for that premium instead of just fancy packaging.

Excellent stay in fantastic location, nice small hotel
Hotel is in a perfect location, a couple blocks from Central Park, Columbus Circle and subway and theatre district. Easy walk to Times Square, short walk to Bryant Park, and anything in that area. Bed was comfortable, room was very clean. It was not modern, but it was functional furniture that was again clean and in good shape, so feel like for the price in the area it was a great value. Staff was very helpful and nice. We had AC which really kept the room cool and could be set to your preference. There is a small refrigerator which was nice. Ahead of our stay staff answered all questions about recommendations with great suggestions.
What could be improved: Not really a dislike, but would have preferred having a microwave and in room coffee. We asked for a kettle and had one so that was good for heating water for tea. The small hair dryer on the bathroom wall stopped working.
Very Good
Near Central Park and subways, small older hotel, but good value, with a fridge provided in the room too, which was handy for cold drinks coming in from the summer heat!
What could be improved: Older and smaller hotel with old noisier AC on the window, but still cooled me down!
Great location and ok for one night but the beds are terrible! Old mattresses that sink In the middle
Location was perfect. Staff nice. Room and bath clean
What could be improved: Mattresses are awful!
The amazing location made up for all the negative stuff. If I had stayed there for more than one night I would’ve asked
Helpful and welcoming staff. Clean room. Amazing location.
What could be improved: Aircon didn’t work properly. Noisy. Old room, the water pressure in the sink was really bad.
Wonderful
Overall, the experience was decent. The room looked exactly like the photos, which was a nice surprise. The location is convenient—just a short walk to the subway—and the WiFi worked well throughout our stay. Daily cleaning service in the afternoon was reliable and appreciated.
What could be improved: On the downside, the bed sheets could be better, and the towels were quite worn—it would be nice if they replaced them. Still, for the price, it’s a solid choice in NYC.
Close to Carnegie hall and Central Park- good value

Location was perfect, stuff was nice and friendly
What could be improved: Certainly the taxi company you use. The driver
who took me to JFK on May 14th was rude and
loud, didn’t use him again
