First Impressions

Walking into the Courtyard by Marriott New York Manhattan/Chelsea, you immediately get that “this is actually Manhattan” feeling without the overwhelming chaos. The lobby strikes a nice balance — modern and polished enough that you feel like you’re staying somewhere decent, but not so fancy that you’re afraid to sit down in your travel clothes. It’s one of those four-star places that knows exactly what it is, and honestly, that’s refreshing in a city where hotels can try way too hard.

The Chelsea Advantage

Here’s what I love about this location — you’re right in the heart of Chelsea, which means you’re actually living like a New Yorker rather than just visiting. Penn Station is practically around the corner (trust me, this matters when you’re hauling luggage), and you can walk to the High Line, Madison Square Garden, or the Flatiron District without breaking a sweat. The couples who stay here consistently rave about the area, and I get it — there’s something romantic about strolling through Chelsea’s tree-lined streets after dinner, especially compared to the tourist madness of Times Square.

The Room Experience

The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid Marriott property, but here’s the thing everyone mentions — the beds are genuinely comfortable. I mean, we’re talking about that perfect firmness where you actually sleep through the night despite being in Manhattan. The rooms aren’t huge (this is New York, after all), but they’re smartly designed with enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The windows offer decent city views, and you know what? Sometimes that glimpse of real New York life happening outside is better than a postcard-perfect skyline.

Morning Fuel

The breakfast situation here is pretty practical — they do American-style breakfast with a grab-and-go option, which honestly makes sense when you’re eager to get out and explore the city. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it’ll fuel you up for a day of walking around Manhattan. The coffee is decent (important!), and having the option to take breakfast with you means you can eat in nearby Madison Square Park or find a spot along the High Line.

Why Guests Love It

This hotel works because it gets the fundamentals right without any unnecessary fuss. You’re staying in one of the best neighborhoods in Manhattan — seriously, that 9.3 location score isn’t just marketing speak — and you’ll sleep well in comfortable beds after long days exploring the city. The staff knows their stuff about the area, and there’s something reassuring about the Marriott reliability when you just want a solid home base. It’s the kind of place where you spend your time out in the incredible neighborhood rather than hanging around the hotel, which is exactly how a New York trip should be.

Wonderful

Excellent location and accessible to all restaurants. Especially room was spacious and clean. Breakfast isn't that great, but not bad. Overall good.

What could be improved: Wish the parking were included.

Excellent location. Great hotel

Great Location. Quiet rooms.

What could be improved: A seating area would be nice by window. Wardrobe isn’t great. Too short for dresses, on a weird slant facing towards you. Not much space for clothes.

Very Good

Room was clean, quiet, and roomy by Manhattan standards. Air conditioning worked well which was important as we were there during a heat wave. Location is a short walk to Penn Station, but on a quiet block away from the bustle. An easy subway ride or walk to Broadway shows.

Great comfort and convenient location!

Conveniently located to all subway and train by Penn Station. The staff was friendly and the beds were very comfortable. I was surprised how quiet it was considering you are in the middle of Manhattan.

great staff, great location and good value for money.

Check in staff staff were exceptional, attentive, accommodating and understanding of our requirements.

What could be improved: lack of facilities. The area off reception wasn't up to much. The bar that is joined to the hotel wasn't great (many beers on the menu but very few available)
