Courtyard by Marriott New York Manhattan/Chelsea
I'll be honest – when I first walked into Courtyard by Marriott New York Manhattan/Chelsea, I wasn't expecting much from what looked like just another Marriott property.
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Courtyard by Marriott New York Manhattan/Chelsea, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another Marriott property. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The lobby has this modern, clean vibe that doesn’t feel sterile, and the staff at check-in were genuinely helpful (not just going through the motions like at some chain hotels). What really caught my attention was how they’ve managed to create a sense of space in what’s essentially a compact four-star building – the ceilings are higher than you’d expect, and there’s natural light streaming in that makes everything feel more open.
The location is honestly perfect if you want to feel like you’re actually living in New York rather than just visiting it. You’re right in Chelsea on 30th Street, which means you can walk to Penn Station in about five minutes when you need to catch a train, but you’re far enough away that you don’t hear the constant rumble of commuter traffic. I mean, Herald Square and all that tourist chaos is just a few blocks north, but where the hotel sits feels more… residential, I guess? There’s a great little coffee shop literally next door that the locals use, and you’ll find yourself walking past real New Yorkers heading to work rather than just other tourists. The High Line entrance at 30th Street is practically around the corner – I walked there three mornings in a row just because it was so easy.
What really sold me on this place was the attention to smaller details that actually matter when you’re staying somewhere for more than a night. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Manhattan, after all), but they’re thoughtfully designed with plenty of outlets near the bed and a work desk that’s actually usable if you need to get some work done. The bathroom has good water pressure – something you can’t take for granted in older NYC buildings – and housekeeping was consistent throughout my stay. I stayed on the eighth floor and was worried about street noise, but honestly, the windows do a decent job of muffling the typical city sounds. You’ll still hear some traffic, but it’s more like a gentle urban hum than anything disruptive. The fitness center is small but well-maintained, and there’s a business center that’s actually functional if you need to print boarding passes or whatever. One thing I really appreciated was how the front desk staff knew the neighborhood – when I asked about good dinner spots that weren’t tourist traps, they pointed me toward places that were clearly local favorites. That kind of insider knowledge makes such a difference when you’re trying to experience a city authentically rather than just checking off the typical sightseeing boxes.

Wonderful
Excellent location and accessible to all restaurants. Especially room was spacious and clean. Breakfast isn't that great, but not bad. Overall good.
What could be improved: Wish the parking were included.
Excellent location. Great hotel
Great Location. Quiet rooms.
What could be improved: A seating area would be nice by window. Wardrobe isn’t great. Too short for dresses, on a weird slant facing towards you. Not much space for clothes.
Wonderful
The location is short walk from train station and msg
What could be improved: The bar/restaurant Goldie's adjacent to hotel...
I also placed door dash order and no one contacted us from front desk that it had been delivered..
Fire alarm was malfunctioning so
Good
Was good for such sort notice
Very Good
Room was clean, quiet, and roomy by Manhattan standards. Air conditioning worked well which was important as we were there during a heat wave. Location is a short walk to Penn Station, but on a quiet block away from the bustle. An easy subway ride or walk to Broadway shows.
Great comfort and convenient location!
Conveniently located to all subway and train by Penn Station. The staff was friendly and the beds were very comfortable. I was surprised how quiet it was considering you are in the middle of Manhattan.
great staff, great location and good value for money.
Check in staff staff were exceptional, attentive, accommodating and understanding of our requirements.
What could be improved: lack of facilities. The area off reception wasn't up to much. The bar that is joined to the hotel wasn't great (many beers on the menu but very few available)
I would definitely stay again!
The staff were so friendly, professional and made sure to please all.
What could be improved: Starbucks in lobby closed at 1130a daily.
Nice room in good location
The room was clean and located in good location
What could be improved: The hotel should provide complimentary drinking water
Great location, clean and comfortable
Wonderfully located next to Penn Station, Madison Sq Garden, Empire State Building, shopping, transportation. Clean, comfortable with all the facilities needed for a great holiday
What could be improved: A bit noisy- easily solved with ear plugs overnight
