Arlo NoMad
I'll be honest – when I first walked into Arlo NoMad, I wasn't expecting much from the compact lobby, but this four-star spot completely changed my perspective on what a boutique hotel can be.
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Arlo NoMad, I wasn’t expecting much from the compact lobby, but this four-star spot completely changed my perspective on what a boutique hotel can be. The location on 31st Street puts you right in the sweet spot between Midtown’s chaos and the more relaxed vibe heading downtown, and you know what? You can actually walk to both Madison Square Garden and the Empire State Building without wanting to collapse.
The rooms are small – I mean, really small – but they’ve done something clever with the design that makes it work. Everything has a purpose, from the fold-down desk to the way they’ve tucked storage into places you wouldn’t think to look. The bathroom situation is interesting too; some rooms have this cool glass partition thing that slides, though if you’re traveling with someone you’re not super comfortable with, well… just heads up on that. What really got me was the rooftop situation – they’ve got this outdoor space that gives you actual views of the city skyline, and during summer evenings it’s honestly one of the better spots I’ve found in New York for a drink without paying those ridiculous Midtown prices. The crowd up there tends to be a mix of guests and locals who somehow know about it, which creates this nice energy that doesn’t feel too touristy.
Here’s what actually matters for your stay: the street noise is surprisingly manageable for this part of the city, especially if you get a room facing away from Broadway. Check-in was smooth when I went, though I’ve heard it can get backed up during peak times – maybe grab a coffee from that little place around the corner on Park if you’re stuck waiting. The neighborhood itself has become one of those areas that’s really come into its own lately, with some genuinely good restaurants within a few blocks (that Korean place on 32nd is incredible, by the way). Parking is going to cost you, but honestly, you don’t need a car here anyway. The subway connections are solid – you’ve got the 6 train close by, and the N, Q, R, W lines aren’t far either. What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the area well enough to give useful recommendations instead of just pointing you toward Times Square like so many other places do. Sure, it’s not going to give you those massive hotel rooms you might find in other cities, but there’s something refreshing about a place that knows exactly what it is and does it well.
Exploring New York offers visitors an unforgettable journey through America’s most iconic city, from its towering skyscrapers to its diverse neighborhoods and world-renowned connections to global culture and commerce.

Nice place to stay midtown Manhatten for a week or so.
Great location in Midtown Manhattan, great roof terrace, comfortable room with awesome shower.
What could be improved: No glass curtains. Bedside lamps could not be switched on and off independently.
Only one chair in a double room (was added upon request).
A small table or lounge chair would have done wonders in a bunk beds bedroom.
Arlo Nomad is my go to every trip
Great location. Rooms are nicely appointed. Staff is the best part!
Chic hotel
Helpful and kind staff, beautiful design. Even 8th floor room had a great view due to extreme lack large windows

Wonderful
This is a great little hotel in a good location, the room was small but comfortable and clean, and the views from the rooftop bar are breathtaking. One thing to note is they advertise a daily $15 credit for food/drinks included in the rate, but it’s actually a 15% discount.
Ruined by foolishly employee waking me
Location.
Front desk team.
What could be improved: My final night, with my "Still Dreaming" notice hanging o u side my door, I was awakened before 7:00 AM by a Housekeeping person with cans oF water I did not need or request.
I was rudely awakened an hour before I had planned to rise and had my sleep interrupted for no good reason!
It ruined a good stay and lowered my overall appraisal of my stay.
