Hyatt Union Square New York

You know what struck me first about Hyatt Union Square New York?

You know what struck me first about Hyatt Union Square New York? It’s actually tucked away on Fourth Avenue rather than right on the main Union Square drag, which honestly works in your favor. I mean, you’re still just a two-minute walk from all the Union Square action, but you don’t get the constant honking and street performers outside your window at midnight.

The four-star setup here feels right – it’s polished without being stuffy, and the lobby has this modern warmth that doesn’t scream “corporate hotel chain.” What I really appreciated was how the staff seemed to actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about good coffee that wasn’t Starbucks, the concierge immediately pointed me toward Birch Coffee just a few blocks down on 27th Street, and later I discovered there’s a fantastic little spot called City Bakery even closer. The rooms themselves are well-designed with these floor-to-ceiling windows that let in tons of light – something you definitely don’t take for granted in New York. The beds are legitimately comfortable (I’m picky about this), and there’s enough space to actually open your suitcase without performing gymnastics, which is more than I can say for a lot of Manhattan hotels.

Location-wise, this spot is sort of perfect if you want to feel like you’re living in the city rather than just visiting it. Union Square Market happens right around the corner a few days a week, and you’ve got the 4, 5, 6, N, Q, R, and W trains all within a five-minute walk – honestly, the subway access alone makes this worth considering. I found myself wandering down to the East Village for dinner (it’s basically next door) or heading up to Midtown for meetings, and everything felt accessible without that tourist-trap feeling you get around Times Square. The whole Flatiron District is right there too, which means excellent restaurants and that cool neighborhood vibe. One small thing – the elevators can be a bit slow during busy check-in times, but the trade-off is you’re staying somewhere that feels connected to actual New York life rather than some sanitized version of it. Plus, parking is available if you’re driving in (though honestly, why would you?), and I noticed the street stays relatively quiet at night despite being in such a central location.

Great location, but under construction

Location is great, you can walk anywhere. Close to restaurants and supermarkets (Whole Foods is around the corner) Room was clean, had a mini fridge and coffee maker with coffee for free. The gym is clean, medium size, and they also provide some fruits for you to enjoy :)

What could be improved: It is under construction so the vibe is not there. It looks a bit ugly. Customer service is not very friendly. Water was not provided in the room free of charge.

I recommend the Union Sq Hyatt, great location for subways and proximity to neighborhoods.

Enjoyed the restaurant as a quiet relaxing place to eat dinner at the bar

What could be improved: Wasn’t a great view out the window but was better than the black curtain

I was happy that the rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. It was located in an area close to the event we had to a

The staff were very nice and the rooms were very clean and the beds were comfortable.

What could be improved: I don’t like the fact that there were no ice or vending machines in the hotel or any place in the hotel where you could get food after 10 pm. It would have also been nice to have spare toilet paper in the room rather than just the one on the roll. I also really disliked the tap in the sink because you couldn’t adjust the pressure at all which was really hard.

Great location. Good hotel.

good location, solid facility, well-meaning staff

What could be improved: small staff-to-guest ratio in lobby meant coffee was not replenished and getting help too much too long. Rooms small.
