The building looks pretty understated from the street, sort of blending into Chelsea’s industrial-chic vibe, but that actually turned out to be part of its charm. This four-star spot sits right in the sweet spot of the neighborhood, where you’re close enough to the High Line to walk over in about three minutes, but far enough from the tourist crowds that you’re not dealing with that constant stream of people with selfie sticks.

The lobby has this warm, almost residential feel – think exposed brick mixed with modern touches, but not in that trying-too-hard way some boutique hotels do. What really struck me was how quiet it gets once you’re inside, which is honestly impressive given that you’re basically in the heart of New York. The rooms are smaller than what you’d get in Midtown (well, everything’s smaller in Chelsea), but they’re thoughtfully designed with these great floor-to-ceiling windows that actually open – you know how rare that is in the city? I stayed on the fifth floor and could see slivers of the Hudson River if I craned my neck just right.

Here’s what I really appreciated: the staff genuinely knows the neighborhood. When I asked about coffee, they didn’t just point me to the closest Starbucks – they sent me to this little place on 10th Avenue that locals actually go to. The concierge guy (I think his name was Marcus) gave me this whole rundown about which entrance to use for the Whitney Museum to avoid lines, and he was absolutely right. Room service is decent but honestly, you’re surrounded by some of the best restaurants in the city, so I’d skip it and venture out. The fitness center is small but functional – nothing fancy, just the basics if you need to work off all that amazing Chelsea Market food. Parking is… well, it’s New York, so expect to pay through the nose, but there’s a garage literally next door which saves you from circling blocks looking for a spot. I’d definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to explore the Meatpacking District or catch a show at one of the smaller venues around here. It’s got that neighborhood feel without sacrificing the amenities you actually need.
