And when you’re dealing with the absolute madness that is getting around Midtown, having people who can give you real directions (not just “it’s nearby”) makes a difference. The location really is something special – you can walk to Madison Square Garden in literally five minutes, catch multiple subway lines without the usual tourist crowds, and you’re close enough to the Garment District that you feel like you’re seeing a slice of working New York, not just the theme park version. I actually ended up extending my stay an extra night because, well, finding a place in this area that doesn’t cost a fortune and doesn’t make you feel like you’re sleeping in a closet? That’s worth something. The free breakfast is standard Hampton fare – nothing revolutionary but it’ll get you going in the morning – and there’s a 24-hour fitness center that’s small but functional if you need to burn off all those New York pizza calories.
