So I’ve stayed at EVEN Hotel New York – Midtown East by IHG a couple times now, and honestly, it’s become my go-to when I need to be in that part of Manhattan. The thing that struck me first – and still does – is how they’ve managed to create this surprisingly zen atmosphere right in the middle of all that East 44th Street chaos. I mean, you step out the door and you’re immediately hit with the usual New York symphony of honking cabs and construction noise, but inside? It’s like they’ve built this little wellness cocoon.
The four-star property is part of IHG’s fitness-focused brand, which initially made me roll my eyes a bit – I thought it might be all kale smoothies and guilt trips about skipping the gym. But actually, they’ve struck a really nice balance. Yeah, there’s a solid fitness center that’s open 24/7 (which I’ll admit I used exactly once at 6 AM and felt very virtuous about), and the in-room equipment is decent if you’re into that sort of thing. But what I really appreciate is how they’ve woven the wellness concept into everything without being preachy about it. The lighting adjusts throughout the day, the air circulation is noticeably better than most NYC hotels, and even the mattresses – well, I’m someone who usually tosses and turns the first night in any hotel, but I slept surprisingly well here.
Location-wise, you’re about a five-minute walk from Grand Central, which is clutch if you’re coming in from the airports or heading out to the suburbs. I’ve walked to the Chrysler Building (literally around the corner), caught shows in Times Square without needing a cab, and there’s this little Korean place on 45th that the front desk guy recommended – totally worth it if you don’t mind a bit of a wait. The neighborhood gets pretty quiet after business hours since it’s so office-heavy, which means you can actually open your windows at night without wanting to murder every delivery truck driver in Manhattan. Parking is still brutal and expensive, obviously – this is Midtown East, not some suburban paradise – but the hotel does have valet service if you’re desperate. Check-in was smooth both times I stayed, though I’d recommend avoiding the 3-4 PM rush when all the business travelers descend at once. One small thing that bugs me: the elevators can be slow during peak times, but honestly, that’s pretty standard for NYC hotels. What makes this place worth booking again is that they’ve figured out how to make a business hotel feel less soul-crushing than most, and in a city where hotel rooms often feel like expensive shoebox rentals, that’s saying something.

Excellent place to stay would definitively return
Excellent location. Ideal for Grand Central Station and links to other areas. The bed was so comfortable and very clean room.
What could be improved: Nothing
Very Good
Great location, nice clean room and comfortable bed.
What could be improved: Breakfast was very disappointing taste-wise and it was expensive. Watery, strange orange juice in a tiny cup. Watery bad coffee in a tiny cup. And watery oatmeal. The berries were good!
Welcoming, restful atmosphere in the heart of NY
Double beds, quiet room, fast elevators, nice reception desk.
What could be improved: Couldn’t make the room completely dark, there were LEDs that stayed on (could change the colour).
We enjoyed the hotel very much especially having a few drinks on the terrace.
It was a very nice hotel. Everything was clean and the room smelled fresh.
What could be improved: Just the overall size of the room. Although it was nice and cozy, it was a little tight/small.
Wonderful
Nothing was a hassle or problem for the hotel, which is unassuming and all the better for it. Arrived in morning after overnight flight and though our room was not ready, hotel gave us keys to a better room that was ready. Service with a smile. The way it should be....
Wonderful
The overall vibe, location, daily free drink. Staff were helpful
What could be improved: Slightly small room and the closet is tiny (good for 1 person, but not a couple)
Great location. Four stars
Location
What could be improved: Minimal housekeeping, Minimal amenities ( no robe, slippers, ice only on 2nd floor)
A very good hotel in Midtown Manhattan
The hotel is well located near Grand Central and surrounded by restaurants bars, etc. The UN buildings are also very close by. Rooms are very comfortable. Quality of mattress and pillows are superb. A value added of the hotel is the possibility of exercising or doing yoga in your room. There are many thing a mat and others that you can use. I also love the gym.
Very Good
Great location
What could be improved: We paid for two rooms May 12 until May 16th
We arrived may 13 in the morning and one of the room was not available
Very Good
Great location
What could be improved: I don’t like that we booked two rooms and paid for them since may 11th, but we arrived 12 and one of the room was not available
